Lionel Patrick Serex, Esq., LL.M. Georgetown, MBA UZH leads the firm’s litigation practice in civil, criminal and administrative law and represents clients before courts in German and French-speaking Switzerland. Lionel has more than 15 years of experience in successfully handling complex domestic and international litigation in civil, commercial, corporate, construction and employment law as well as FINMA enforcement and insolvency proceedings and white collar criminal proceedings before Swiss courts.
Additionally, Lionel has more than 15 years in advising regulatory matters with FINMA, corporate and corporate governance matters as well as compliance matters with MROS. He advises banks, collective investment funds, asset managers, wealth managers and insurance companies in any regulatory and compliance matters including dealing with the Swiss financial regulatory authority FINMA. He also advises on licensing matters (Eidgenössiche Spielbankenkommission ESBK) for the gaming industry, including iGaming, inter alia in the areas of artificial intelligence, virtual reality (VR), contract law (licenses games and gaming platforms), social concept (player protection) and Money Laundering Act (GwG) obligations, and data protection law.
With a Master of Law from the University of Lausanne Switzerland as well as an LL.M. in international business and economic law from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C. USA, Lionel worked for several international law firms in Geneva and Zurich as well as head of legal and compliance at a Swiss casino group before he joined LINDEMANNLAW. He also holds an Executive MBA with focus on international management from the University of Zurich (UZH) and an Executive Education, Yale University, School of Management, New Haven, Connecticut USA. Lionel was admitted to the bar in 2007.
