Maria Shaftan, MBA Master of Business Administration (Hult International Business School) and Master of Economics (MGIMO Moscow State University of International Relations), is Senior Associate at LINDEMANNLAW. She advises UHNWI entrepreneurs, international groups, asset managers and wealth managers as well as institutional investors in legal, regulatory and tax matters.
She has more than 15 years of experience in tax structuring and setup of investment funds, holdings, foundations and other relevant legal entities; drafting and negotiating Swiss and international tax rulings and tax opinions; drafting and negotiating fund agreements, documentation and cross border agreements; providing advice and conducting due diligence with respect to tax aspects of investments; conducting private wealth tax structuring advice for succession and estate planning; as well as monitoring and implementing regulatory requirements such as EU AML directives and OECD BEPS initiatives.
Prior, she worked as Wealth Planner / Tax Specialist at UBS Switzerland AG, Zurich, in the Tax and Legal Department Financial Services Asset Management at PwC Singapore, as a Project Manager at the Analytical Centre Forum Moscow and as a Tax Manager at PwC Russia, Moscow.
